Akash

Nikola Jokic powers Nuggets past SGA's Thunder as decisive Game 7 looms.

The Denver Nuggets registered a dramatic win against the OKC Thunder on Thursday to make the series 3 all. The whole match went through various modes where both teams were looking like a dominant force to take the game away. However, the Nuggets proved their prowess in the second half.

The Denver Nuggets began the game slow with a meager three point lead. OKC Thunder put up a close fight, but it was the home side that took the quarter by 31-28. The Nuggets kept the momentum going with the support of the home crowd but went into the deficit at the end of the first half.

Performances from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic made the game thrilling as both kept going at it against each other. SGA and his side couldn’t sustain any momentum after taking the first half lead. Jokic and Co. took over the game in the second half after a team effort.

The Denver Nuggets have been performing well in the second half of the playoffs. While the previous Nuggets vs. Thunder game didn’t go as planned for the home side, but the one time NBA champions fought well to take the game away from the young Thunders.

Nuggets’ Second-Half Surge Levels Series

The Denver Nuggets had the momentum shifted in the third quarter. Despite being on deficit while starting the second quarter, the home side took the lead. And a big lead. The fourth quarter story remained the same as OKC Thunder failed to come back into the Nuggets vs. Thunder game.

Nikola Jokic went on to score 29 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He also had 8 assists in the Nuggets vs. Thunder game 6. Jamal Murray also played a crucial role in the 119-107 win for the Nuggets, scoring 25 points. Christian Braun was a revelation from the game as he lodged 23 points. While on the OKC Thunder side, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a game high 32 points.

The single player effort was again not enough for the OKC Thunder, and this would prove to be a problem going forward. The game 7 of the Nuggets vs. Thunder series will now decide the fate of the semi-finals.
