Nikola Jovic Signs Four-Year $62.4 million Rookie Contract Extension with Miami Heat

Jovic averaged 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game during the 2024-25 season.

Miami Heat’s forward Nikola Jovic has signed a four-year contact extension with the franchise, worth $62.4 million. According to the reports by Shams Charania, the deal is fully guaranteed for straight four years with no option clause for either side. Jovic, who was picked by the Heat in the 2022 NBA Draft as the 27th overall pick, has played a total of 107 out of 246 games with the side.

The 22-year-old recorded the career-high average of 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game during the 2024-25 season. However, his appearance for the team was limited to only 46 games owing to a right hand fracture. Though he did return in the playoffs, and played all four games of the opening round where the Heat suffered a 4-0 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Apart from recording his career-best season, Jovic has had a memorable campaign with the Serbian national team. He, alongside Nikola Jokic, guided the side to a Round of 16 appearance in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket. Jovic is expected to record a better season this year, where his role is going to continue to grow.

Nikola Jovic Becomes Fifth Player from 2022 NBA Draft Class to Sign Extension This Off Season

Nikola Jovic had been extension eligible since the start of the offseason, and had he not agreed to sign an extension by the October 20 deadline, he would have been a restricted free agent next summer. Now that he has signed an extension, he has become the fifth player from the 2022 NBA draft class to sign an extension this offseason. The rest of the players are Paolo Bancher from Orlando Magic, Jabari Smith of Houston Rockets, OKC Thunder’s Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams.

Not only this, but Jovic is also the first player on the roster to have a contract through 2029-30. No other player on the team is under contract beyond 2028-29. The Serbian has stressed to start games this season and with Tyler Herro’s absence for at least the first month, one can expect him to be in the starting five.
