Nicolas Jackson Completes Bayern Munich Switch After Late Drama

The Nicolas Jackson transfer saga has finally reached its conclusion, with the Chelsea striker officially joining Bayern Munich on deadline day. The 24-year-old Senegal international moves to Germany on a season-long paid loan. Notably, Bayern will be obligated to buy the striker permanently for £56.2m (€65m) if certain appearance conditions are met.

The total package, including loan fees for the deal is worth around €81.5m (£70m). Bayern will initially pay €16.5m (£14.3m) for the loan, while Jackson has already agreed personal terms for a five-year deal that will be activated should the permanent clause be triggered in 2026.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 for £32m and scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues. His physicality, pace, and pressing ability convinced Bayern to make him their attacking priority before the window closed. Jackson now has the chance to make his mark in Germany with the reigning Bundesliga champions.

New Deal Agreed Between Chelsea and Bayern for Jackson

The striker’s determination proved crucial in sealing the deal, as negotiations briefly collapsed over the weekend when Chelsea tried to recall him following Liam Delap’s injury in their Premier League win over Fulham. The forward was already in Munich when Chelsea attempted to pull the plug. However, Jackson refused to leave Germany and made it clear he only wanted a switch to the Allianz Arena.

On September 1, Bayern reopened negotiations, and the two clubs finally struck a compromise. The new agreement saw Bayern pay an increased loan fee, with an obligation to buy included to make the deal permanent next summer. After a tense few hours, the Bavarian giants finally got their man.

For Chelsea, the deal provides a significant financial boost at a time when they face pressure to balance transfer spending with UEFA’s financial regulations. For Bayern, it secures a striker capable of leading their line in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League, where Jackson could even face his former club Chelsea on September 17 in Munich. Notably, UEFA rules allow loanees to play against their parent club.
