Nick Sirianni Details Why the Eagles Will Not Witness Banner Raising Ceremony Ahead of the Season Opener

What banner night? Eagles looking at the future and not the past!

For most teams and players who are the reigning Super Bowl Champions, seeing the banner being raised in your home stadium in front of a passionate crowd creates an everlasting memory for the rest of their lives. That, however, does not seem to be the case with the Eagles’ head coach, Nick Sirianni, who seems to be focused completely on the task at hand.

Sirianni Unaware about Banner Night in Philly

While speaking to the media on Tuesday, Sirianni was taken aback by the mention of banner night just prior to the season opener. The Eagles’ head coach was clear in delivering the message that the team would not be on the field for the ceremony.

“I didn’t know it was banner night. We won’t be out for that.”

Sirianni instead preferred to look at the future and talk more about how the team has excelled in OTAs and training camp. Sirianni also praised both sides of the ball, the offense and defense, especially with their commitment to pay attention to every small nuance of the game.

“I think our habits are going in the right direction, and you focus on those things,” Said Sirinanni. “Every practice that we go through, we’re thinking about, ‘How did we tackle? How did we take care of the football? How did we take it away? How did we catch? How did we block?’ So you’re just looking for those to constantly be on the rise.”

The coach’s outlook of remaining focused on work for the upcoming season, coupled with quarterback Jalen Hurts’ unwillingness to wear his Super Bowl ring, as it was something in the past, just goes to show the hungry mindset of this roster.

Eagles 2025-26 Season

Running it back for a second year in a row is never the easiest thing in the NFL. Amongst other sports leagues, there is plenty that happens over the course of an offseason with player and personnel changes, retirements, trades, and more. To keep the core of the team intact and to improve is certainly a tough ask.

Additionally, the Eagles are now bound to get everyone’s best shot this year, and they also have one of the toughest schedules as they play multiple top teams, having won their division in 2024.

Despite the tough road ahead, Philadelphia has managed to keep much of its roster together and has a nice blend of experience and youth. The Eagles have great leadership, and at the same time, they have drafted well. A fair warning ahead of the start of the new season, if you wish to bet against them, it is at your own peril.
