NHL Results: Rangers Unstoppable, Canadiens Extend Winning Streak to Five

Charles Taudin

Six games were on the NHL schedule last night.

Rangers Earn Second Straight Shutout

The New York Rangers delivered a dominant performance on Monday night, shutting out the Islanders 4-0 in a one-sided New York derby. Igor Shesterkin was unbeatable between the pipes, making 21 saves to record his fourth shutout of the season.

Will Cuylle opened the scoring in an unusual fashion, deflecting a Zac Jones shot off his helmet for his 17th goal of the season. Will Borgen doubled the lead with a rare shorthanded goal that electrified Madison Square Garden. J.T. Miller added a third goal early in the third period before Artemi Panarin sealed the win with an empty-netter.

With this victory, the Rangers inch closer to a playoff spot, now tied with the Red Wings in the wild-card standings.

Canadiens Secure Fifth Straight Win with OT Thriller

Drama, comebacks, and a perfect finish for the Canadiens! Montreal had to battle hard to defeat the Sabres 4-3 in overtime, keeping their winning streak alive. Nick Suzuki was the star of the night with a goal and three assists, while Mike Matheson played the hero, scoring the game-winner in overtime.

This fifth consecutive victory keeps the Habs in the playoff hunt.

Capitals Snap Losing Streak with Shootout Win Over Ottawa

Finally, a win for Washington!

After three straight losses, the Capitals needed a shootout to get past the Senators, winning 5-4. Dylan Strome netted the decisive shootout goal, while Pierre-Luc Dubois stood out with a goal and two assists. Ottawa put up a fight and nearly completed a comeback late in regulation, but Washington held on. A much-needed win!

Alex Ovechkin was held scoreless and remains 10 goals away from Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record.

Perfect Debut for Spencer Knight with Blackhawks

For a first game with Chicago, it couldn’t have gone much better! Spencer Knight was stellar in net, stopping 41 shots to help the Blackhawks cruise to a 5-1 win over the Kings. Despite being outshot by Los Angeles, Knight shut the door.

A strong start that could help him revive his career after some challenging seasons.

Other Scores from the Night

Florida 2-1 Tampa Bay – The Panthers take a tight matchup and strengthen their playoff position.

San Jose 3-2 Toronto (OT) – Major upset! The Sharks stun the Maple Leafs in overtime.
