Heading into Week 9 of the 2025-26 NFL season, the injuries keep on piling. Multiple players will be on watch ahead of the games this week, while week 8 saw another devastating season-ending injury in the form of the New York Giants’ rookie Cam Skattebo.
Running back Cam Skattebo underwent surgery in Philadelphia after he was carted off the field during a pass play against the Eagles. Skattebo, while trying to go for the catch, landed awkwardly and dislocated his ankle. The Giants’ rookie sensation will now miss the rest of the season as he begins his recovery process.

As we get closer to the Week 9 games, here are some of the more notable injuries to monitor as the week progresses.
Rams’ wide receiver Puka Nacua missed the team’s week 7 game against the Jaguars due to an ankle injury he suffered in the game against the Baltimore Ravens in week 6. Luckily, though, the Rams had their bye week last week, and head coach Sean McVay believes that Nacua will be ready to play in the upcoming game against the 49ers.
Running back Saquon Barkley suffered a groin injury late in the third quarter in last week’s game against the Giants. He was left out for the remainder of the game as a precaution, but Barkley himself has stated that the injury is nothing serious.
Kansas City Chiefs’ running back Isiah Pacheco left the week 8 game early against the Commanders on Monday Night Football with what was apparently a knee injury. Reports have confirmed that he suffered an MCL sprain and is now considered week-to-week.

Tight end Brock Bowers has not played since week 4 after suffering a knee injury. There is optimism that he could return this week against the Jaguars. Bowers’ return will be a welcome addition for the Raiders’ offense, which has struggled consistently in the past few games.
Terry McClaurin’s injury woes continue to trouble him this season. The Commanders’ top wide receiver injured his quad in Week 3 and ended up missing the next 4 games. After a return last week against the Chiefs, McClaurin is once again out for Sunday’s Week 9 game against the Seahawks.
Here is a list of notable players carrying injuries ahead of week 9 of the 2025-26 NFL season.
Week 8 saw two key players whose seasons have come to an end. Apart from Cam Skattebo, whom we already discussed earlier, Minnesota Vikings’ backup quarterback Carson Wentz is another addition to the list of players whose 2025-26 NFL campaigns are over.
Wentz suffered a shoulder injury to his non-throwing arm a few weeks ago, but continued to play with a brace as the Vikings’ starter, J.J. McCarthy, was recovering from his injury. Now, Wentz’s season is officially over as he has opted for surgery that will take time to heal.

Other players who are also out for the season are as follows:
This week, the Browns, Jets, Eagles, and Buccaneers all have their bye weeks. That means players from these teams will get an additional week to rest and recover as they look to make a return by Week 10.

nfl I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
