With one game remaining to be known, let's dive into next nfl playoffs round
The NFL Divisional Round kicks off this Saturday with the AFC showdown between the Texans and the Chiefs.
Only two games remain before we know the lineup for Super Bowl LIX, which will take place on Sunday, February 9, in New Orleans.
Here are some early predictions for this NFL Divisional Round.
For this matchup scheduled for Sunday evening at 6:30 PM, snow is expected to make an appearance at Highmark Stadium.
With the total points line opening at 51.5, it’s hard to imagine an explosive game given the potential weather conditions.
With subzero temperatures and snowfall expected, the style of play will likely be impacted. The ground game should take center stage, which is great news for both teams.
Derrick Henry is coming off a stellar performance against the Steelers, while Josh Allen just reclaimed his crown as the top playoff rusher, edging out… Lamar Jackson.
The showdown between these two “finalists” for MVP will also hinge on their ability to perform in the running game.
A focus on the ground game often leads to a slower-paced match with the clock ticking away, which doesn’t favor a high-scoring affair.
Early Prediction: Under 51.5 points (-110)
Both teams rely on solid defenses. Once again, the Chiefs are counting on their defensive unit to win games and take some pressure off Patrick Mahomes.
On the other side, the Texans are coming off a game where they made life miserable for Justin Herbert with four interceptions.
It’s also expected to be cold at Arrowhead, which doesn’t bode well for a high-scoring game.
Given the Texans’ defensive form, there’s a good chance Patrick Mahomes could throw an interception during the matchup.
Early Prediction: Patrick Mahomes to throw an interception
The NFC’s top dogs take on the surprise team of the 2024 season, the Commanders.
Led by Jayden Daniels, who is on track to win Rookie of the Year, the Commanders secured their first playoff win since 2006 during the Wild Card round. But standing in their way is the Detroit wall.
Unpredictable in the best way offensively and formidable defensively, Detroit naturally enters as the favorite in this game.
With one of the most lethal offenses in the league, Detroit is expected to bring the firepower once again.
With the total points line set at 54.5, this game is shaping up to be an offensive shootout, and there’s no reason to believe otherwise.
Early Prediction: Over 54.5 points
