New York Liberty: On course for second straight title

The Liberty enters the game after an 8-point win (86-78) against the Washington Mystics as Branna Stewart had an emphatic 26-point performance. The 2024 champions are making a mockery of their oppositions thus far. They have won five out of eight games by at least 14 points.

They are unsurprisingly #1 across various metrics.

To begin with, they are #1 in offensive rating (115) and #1 in defensive rating (91). They shoot the league-best 47.1% from the floor while limiting teams to 36.6% FG, again, the best effort.

They are at a record-breaking pace from three-pointers, nailing a league-high 12 triples per game on an excellent 38.2% FG(1st). Adding Natasha Cloud has bolstered them on the defensive end, and the rest of the league must be scared of them again.

Chicago Sky: A season from hell

The Sky enters the affair after a disappointing 52-79 loss against the Indiana Fever. They shot a horrible 32.1% while committing 19 turnovers, truly a recipe for disaster.

No player scored in double digits, underscoring their scoring difficulties. But that was not all, the team also lost their leading playmaker, Courtney Vanderloot, for the season due to a Right ACL injury.

The Sky is struggling across all metrics, the complete opposite of the Liberty. They are committing league-high 17.1 turnovers a game, while shooting third-worst (39.9%). Angel Reese has receded offensively, scoring 9.1 PPG on just 30.9% shooting.

The squad has lacked reliable frontline play from Reese and Kamila Cardoso. They may need to blow it up. Will Reese be on the trading block if she continues to shoot terribly? It seems likely.

Leonie Fiebich O 1.5 three-pointers: The “Three and D” Wing has nailed at least 2 triples in four of the last five games. I expect her to nail 2 here at least.
