The Knicks are a big threat
The Knicks come into the contest after a 4-point win against the Brooklyn Nets as Karl-Anthony Towns stacked 25 points and 16 rebounds. They have won two in a row but have been inconsistent in January, with a 6-6 record. The duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns has been terrific and KAT has given the team elite rebounding. Thanks to KAT and Josh Hart, the Knicks are holding opponents to just 40.9 RPG(1st). This hustle play makes the Knicks one of the title contenders even if their record pales compared to the top teams in the East and West. However, a big winning streak can get them closer to the inconsistent Celtics for the second seed.
The Kings are better but need to do more
The Kings enter the affair after a 9-point loss against the Denver Nuggets despite a near-triple effort by Domantas Sabonis. This defeat broke a three-game winning streak. The Kings have won 10 out of their 12 games, but a slow 13-19 start to the season has held them back. The evolution of Malik Monk as a playmaker has helped but De’Aaron Fox has been battling injuries which has hurt their backcourt a bit. DeMar DeRozan has been clutch whereas Sabonis’ all-around heroics play a big role in their success. However, the Kings need another extended winning spell to become a legitimate threat in the West.

The Knicks are in a great groove this season and their hard-nosed squad poses a lot of trouble. While the Kings’ offense has been terrific, their scoring liberty will be curbed in this game. Apart from that, their lackadaisical defense can be a huge liability against a team that gives it all on the floor. Thus, I fancy the Knicks’ chances here. The total can go over 225 but remain under 236 points here with the Knicks winning by 6 points at least.

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
