Early leans & betting predictions

Early spread lean: Seattle Seahawks -4.5 (-106)

Based on the opening odds for the spread, we are leaning towards the Seahawks to win outright and cover the 4.5-point spread over the Patriots. Throughout the season, both teams have done well on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Offensively, the Patriots and the Seahawks finished second and third, respectively in scoring during the regular season. While New England put up 28.8 points per game, Seattle was right behind with 28.4. During the postseason, however, the Seahawks have scored an average of 36 points in their 2 games, whereas the Patriots have scored just 18. That being said, New England’s three games have come in tougher playing conditions.

Defensively, the Seahawks had the number one scoring defense in the regular season, allowing just 17.2 points a game, whereas the Patriots were the fourth-best scoring defense, giving up 18.8 points a game in the regular season. Once again, those numbers are skewed in the postseason due to the Patriots’ games coming in cold weather climates with frigid conditions. Seattle has allowed just 16.5 points per game in the postseason, whereas New England has allowed a remarkably low 8.7 points.

That being said, we feel that Seattle has the upper hand in the matchup and should be able to cover the 4.5-point spread in the Super Bowl.

Understanding how to bet on NFL games is crucial for maximizing the value of our expert picks and making informed wagers each week.

Early total lean: Over 45.5 (-115)

For the total points, the Over/Under is set at 45.5. As per the opening odds, we are leaning towards the Over at this point. Even though both teams possess a top-five defense in the league this season, these two teams also boast a top-three offense, which indicates that this game could be a higher scoring game than the projected 45.5 points.

Early player prop: Sam Darnold Under 227.5 Passing Yards (-114)

For the early player prop, we are leaning towards Sam Darnold throwing for Under 227. Passing yards in the Super Bowl. Overall, the Patriots have a strong defensive unit, with their secondary touted to be one of the better ones in the league.

The Seahawks have a well-balanced offense that relies on both the passing and running game. Moreover, Darnold has generally thrown for fewer yards against teams with elite defense this season, which seems to indicate that would be the case against New England in the Super Bowl.

Trends to Monitor

Here are some of the key trends to monitor for the Patriots’ Super Bowl LX game against the Seahawks.

  • The New England Patriots are 9-0 on the road this season.
  • The Patriots are 4-2 ATS as underdogs.
  • New England has a 4-2 Over record as an underdog.
  • The Seahawks have a 10-6 Over record as the favorites this season.
  • Seattle is 12-4 ATS on the season.
  • The Seahawks are 15-1 as favorites.

Early prediction summary

The Patriots and the Seahawks both finished the regular season 14-3. While Seattle earned the number one seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout, New England earned the second seed in the AFC and won against the Broncos on the road in the Conference Championship round.

Both teams possess a strong offense, although the Patriots have found it hard to put up points in the postseason. Seattle, on the other hand, has dominated both through the air and along the ground with a convincing win over the 49ers and a hard-fought one over the Rams.

Both the Patriots and the Seahawks have an elite defense, with no real advantage to either team. That being said, the Seahawks have looked the more balanced team recently.

Our prediction: Seattle Seahawks win
