While it’s just the start of the season and they are at .500, there are legitimate concerns over their star guard Anthony Edwards’ health, as he’s dealing with a hamstring strain that will keep him out for at least two weeks. The Wolves have reasonably easy schedule, but it will be much harder for them to wins games without Edwards.

Meanwhile, the L.A. Lakers are similarly dealing with injury concerns with their superstar players including Luka Doncic and LeBron James will not be playing in the game. Analysis and Rationale

In the last two games, Austin Reaves has exploded scoring 41 points in a loss to the Trail Blazers, and 51 points against the Sacramento Kings, on a very efficient 13-22 shooting from the field against Portland and 12-22 shooting against the Kings. The key to this scoring burst is the absence of LeBron James and Luka Doncic, who are both ball dominant players. With Reaves as the primary scoring option for the Lakers, and the sheer volume of shots he’s taken in the last two games, Reaves should be able to get 30 or more points in this game.

Austin Reaves is averaging 8.5 assists per game as the primary ball handler. While Reaves is a score-first guard, he does not hesitate to pass out to open teammates. He’s had three games with 9 assists or more this season, and with Jayden Daniels, a stout defender, most likely guarding Reaves to slow down his scoring outburst, we expect Reaves to draw two defenders to find his open teammates to score the ball.

Rudy Gobert is averaging 9.0 rebounds, playing for the Timberwolves this season. In the game against the Pacers, Gobert grabbed 18 boards. The Lakers have added DeAndre Ayton this season, but their problem with size still persists. Looking at the opposition, Gobert should be able to grab at least 10 boards in this game, as he was close to getting double-digit boards in their last outing with the Lakers.

Timberwolves vs Lakers Prediction

We expect the Timberwolves beat the Lakers in this game. Austin Reaves and the Lakers have been hit with multiple injuries this season, mostly to their scorers and playmakers. Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Gabe Vincent have all been ruled out for the game and this should affect the Lake show heavily. On the other hand, with Julius Randle, Jaden Daniels, Gobert, and Mike Conley all playing, they should be able to get the win as their defense is impeccable at times, as we’ve seen in the past.
