Cade Cunningham-less Detroit Pistons overcame the Cleveland Cavaliers and ended a 12-game losing streak against the Eastern Conference leaders. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored a season-high 32 points while Dennis Schroder added 16 points and 10 assists. Jalen Duren chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds. Ausur Thompson had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Detroit. Darius Garland led the Cavs with 21 points. Cavaliers reduced the 19-point deficit to two points with 3:31 left but Detroit sparked a 12-1 run to close the game.
Kawhi Leonard scored 31 points and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Brooklyn Nets for their tenth win in 12 games. Leonard also had six rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Ivica Zubac added 21 points and 12 rebounds on 9-for-9 shooting. James Harden chipped in 17 points for the Clippers, who look solid in pursuit of the NBA playoffs. Keon Johnson finished with 13 points for the Nets, who have lost six straight games.
OG Anunoby’s fourth-quarter outburst (20 points) helped the New York Knicks defeat the Milwaukee Bucks. Anunoby finished with 31 points and Mikal Bridges added 26. Josh Hart chipped in 13 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. Karl-Anthony Towns added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 30 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Kyle Kuzma and Ryan Rollins each scored 20 points, with the latter getting a career-high. The Bucks now suffered third consecutive loss.
Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Phoenix Suns 124-109 to complete a four-game season sweep. Julius Randle scored 25 points, and Anthony Edwards added 20 after missing the second quarter due to injury. Kevin Durant led his team’s all-scorers with 23 points. Collin Gillespie dropped a career-high 22 points and nine assists for the Suns, who dropped the seventh straight game against the Timberwolves.
Golden State Warriors squeezed past the injury-depleted Pelicans to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs. Stephen Curry scored 23 points in his return from a two-game absence. Jimmy Butler added 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Jonathan Kuminga dropped 16. The Dubs are 1-2 in their six-game road trip. Bruce Brown led New Orleans with 18 points. Rookie Yves Missi added 12 points and 10 rebounds to mark his 12th double-double.
Toronto Raptors overcame the Charlotte Hornets for their third straight win. Jakob Poeltl scored 24 points and 12 rebounds. Immanuel Quickley added 19 points and nine assists on 6-for-15 shooting. Mark Williams added 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Hornets, who lost its fourth straight game. DaQuan Jeffries added 15 points.
Nikola Jokic scored 27 points and 14 rebounds and Denver Nuggets overcame the Utah Jazz 129-93 in pursuit of No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. Michael Porter Jr. added 20 points, and Christian Braun had 16. Collin Sexton led the Jazz with 20 points, and Kyle Filipowski added 18 points and 13 rebounds. Utah’s Lauri Markkanen and John Collins missed due to injury. Denver point guard Jamal Murray also didn’t play. Nuggets had a 11-2 run in the end of third quarter and then, sparked a 25-8 run to open the final quarter.
