The Detroit Pistons are the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference and they finished the season strong with 44-38 record. They will face the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs, and their chances to win the NBA finals sits at 0.7%.
The Houston Rockets played amazing brand of basketball this season, under head coach Ime Udoka. They are surprisingly the 2nd seed in the Western Conference this season as they finished their 2024-25 regular season with a 52-30 record. They will taken on the 7th seeded Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs, and their chance to win the NBA Finals is currently evaluated at 1.2%.
The Los Angeles Clippers finished their season strong as they are the 5th seed in the Western Conference, and Kawhi Leonard looks like his vintage self again. If Leonard can stay healthy, and James Harden can perform the same way that he did in the regular season, there’s no telling what the Clippers can do in the postseason. Their chance to win the NBA Finals sits at 1.3 percent currently.
The Milwaukee Bucks struggled throughout the season with consistency, however, in the final 10 games of the regular season, they won 8 of their 10 games and they looked unstoppable during that stretch. While their championship hopes are still in question, the Bucks can beat anybody on any given night, thanks to their dynamic scoring due in Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. They finished the season as the 5th seed in the East, and will face the Indiana Pacers in the first round. Their chance to win the NBA finals is 1.4%.
With their young star, Anthony Edwards, leading the way, the Timberwolves have looked scary at times. However there are days when you question if they can win playoff games with the current roster. Edwards led the NBA this season in terms of three-pointers made, and he has continued to grow some of the aspects of his game like learning how to handle double teams. The Wolves finished the regular season as the 6th seed in the West, and will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. Their chance to win the NBA finals is at 1.8%.
The New York Knicks finished the regular season with a 51-31 record, securing the third seed in the Eastern Conference. The addition of Mikal Bridges and Karl Anthony Towns has been great for the Knicks, as they both could score anytime they wanted to and defend on the other end as well. The only question about the Knicks is, if they can beat the reigning defending champs in Boston Celtics, who they did not win a single game against in the regular season. The Knicks have 2.1% chance to win the NBA finals.
The Nuggets have been one of the most disappointing teams, especially because they have one of, if not, the best players in the world in Nikola Jokic. They finished the season with a 50-32 record, and while that may sound pretty good for other teams, for the Nuggets it was a disappointment. Their biggest concern in the postseason is if the team can come together and defend, because they have been horrible on that end. The Nuggets will face the L.A. Clippers in the first round of the playoffs, and with the way the Clippers are currently playing, the Nuggets need to be on their A-game, every match going forward. They have 3.3% chance to win the NBA finals.
The Golden State Warriors locked in the 7th seed after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies in the Play-In tournament. They will now face the Houston Rockets and that is looked at as a favorable matchup for them. Jimmy Butler has been amazing playing for the Warriors thus far, and him along with Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry are one of the scariest trios in the NBA currently. They have 3.6% chance to win the NBA finals.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the biggest threats in the NBA to win it all this season. The emergence of Evan Mobley, and with the hiring of head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavs cruised through the regular season. They finished the season with a 64-18 record, securing the No.1 seed in the East, and are one of the favorites to win the NBA finals with a 10.6% chance.
The Lakers finished the season with a 50-32 record, securing the third seed in the West. Huge part of the credit goes to head coach JJ Redick, who navigated through the entire regular season despite having Anthony Davis traded for Luka Doncic in the middle of the season. The are only behind the Celtics, and the OKC Thunder to win it all this season. The Lakers have a 19.2% chance to win the NBA finals.
The reigning defending champs are arguable the best team in the NBA, if you take a look at their talent level from the starters to the bench. They are a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, and will take on the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs. They finished the season with a 61-21 record, which secured them the second seed in the East. The Celtics could be the first team to repeat as champions this season, since the Kevin Durant Golden State Era. The Celtics have a whopping 26% chance to win the NBA finals.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were the best team in the NBA, during the regular season, and Shai Gilgeous Alexander is the favorite to win the NBA MVP award this season. They captured the No.1 seed in the West with a 68-14 record, and have looked unstoppable so far. While there are some questions about if they are ready enough to beat teams like the Celtics, and the Cavaliers, what we do know is that they have the potential season MVP and have the roster to go toe-to-toe against anybody in the playoffs. The Thunder are the favorite to win the NBA finals with a 27.8% chance to win it all.
