NBA Off-Season: New York Knicks Reach Agreement with Veteran Guard Jordan Clarkson

Just hours after agreeing to his termination with the Utah Jazz, shooting guard Jordan Clarkson is already close to defining his new home in the NBA. He reached an agreement with the New York Knicks , and the expectation is that the signing of the contract will happen as soon as his situation with the Jazz is concluded, the information is from the ESPN’s NBA Insider, Shams Charania.

Clarkson is an important addition to the Knicks’ rotation, as the team struggled with lackluster production from its bench last season. The team finished the season with the worst points-per-game average from its bench players, at just 21.7 per game — nearly five fewer than the second-to-last Los Angeles Lakers. In addition, New York’s reserves averaged the fewest combined minutes, at just 12.7.

The shooting guard, on the other hand, specialized in leading the second units of the teams he played for. In Utah, where he spent just over five years of his career, the veteran won the award for best sixth man and came in fourth in the voting on another occasion. His career averages are 16 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Amid free agency decisions, Knicks continue to search for a coach
