| Best Bet | Los Angeles Lakers -5 vs Charlotte Hornets (spread) | -106 at FanDuel |
The Los Angeles Lakes are entering the matchup on the back of a solid 24-14 record, and they have been dominating against weaker teams. The Charlotte Hornets, on the other hand, are sitting towards the bottom of the deck in the East. The Lakers are eighth ranked in the league in terms of offensive rating, but have been struggling defensively. On the other hand, the Hornets have a mid-rack offensive rating but are in a better position defensively.
The guests have been doing well on road, while the Hornets haven’t been able to hold dominance at their own home.
Books have the Lakers at -5, which feels right considering their dominance over the Hornets as well as their poor defensive rating.
With the Lakers maintaining a good overall record over the Hornets, we are laying -5 as our NBA Best Bet of the Day.

| Play #2 | Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics Under 233.5 (total) | -110 at FanDuel |
The Boston Celtics will be up against the Miami Heat in a matchup where defense takes over. The Heat have the fourth-best offensive rating in the league, whereas the Celtics are placed 15th in the standings. On the other hand, they both sit at the opposite ends of the standings when it comes to pace. Miami plays fast, while Boston plays slow.
The total at 233.5 points looks high for the matchup where defensive powered teams lock horns. We expect a grind-it-out battle staying in the low 220s.

| Play #3 | Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 30.5 points | -112 at FanDuel |
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the second-leading scorer in the league, dropping an average of 31.9 points per game. He has been consistent throughout the season, despite a few restricted games. On road, Gilgeous-Alexander maintains an average of 32.0 points per game in the current season.
The Rockets, on the other hand, despite having the home-court advantage, sit below the Thunder in terms of defensive rating.
The line at 30.5 points feels perfectly right for SGA, considering his consistency and Rockets’ weaker defense. We expect the reigning MVP to score 31 points or more on Thursday.
In the first game, the Los Angeles Lakers’ overall dominance in the league and the Hornets gives them an edge, despite defensive struggles. The total in the second leg remains under due to defensive edge, and the Shai Gilgeous-Alexanders remains star performer due to his consistency, overall form and the Rockets’ weaker defense.
