NBA All-Star Game 2025: Knicks’ Brunson and Towns make history, tie 50-year old franchise record

Knicks is the only team with two players named starters this year.

The NBA All-Star Game starters were announced on Thursday, and as expected, some familiar faces made the list. On the Western Conference side, veterans including Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Suns’ Kevin Durant, and Lakers’ LeBron James earned spots once again.

In the Eastern Conference, the All-Star starters included Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

But the big surprise came from New York. For the first time in 50 years, the New York Knicks will have two players start in the NBA All-Star Game. Guard Jalen Brunson and power forward Karl-Anthony Towns were both named starters for the Eastern Conference.

This marks a historic moment for the Knicks. The last time the franchise had two All-Star starters was in 1975, when legends Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe starred as starters in the team.

The Knicks are having another incredible season, sitting comfortably in third spot in Eastern conference standings with a 29-16 record.

Brunson, who has been leading the Knicks averaging 26.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. Meanwhile, Towns, who joined the New York team in a trade from Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason, is putting up 25.1 points per game and is second in league with 13.9 rebounds per game.

The NBA All-Star reserves, seven out of each conference, will be picked by the NBA’s head coaches and will announced on January 30.
