Myles Turner Gives Honest Answer About his Departure and Criticism During Time With Indiana Pacers

Myles Turner averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 2024-25 season.

Former Indiana Pacers guard Myles Turner opened up about the departure and criticism he received during his stay with the Indianapolis team. Earlier this week, Turner signed his four-year contract worth $107 million with the Milwaukee Bucks. The deal came without anything via trade. Turner played a key role for the Pacers in the recent past season and recorded an average of 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He was shooting 48.1% from the field and 39.6% from the three-point arc.

However, even this contribution didn’t turn out to be enough for him to stay with the Pacers. Now that Turner is set to make fresh beginnings with the Bucks, he got a few things off his chest. Talking about his departure and the criticism he received, the 29-year-old said, “I don’t know what to expect, I really don’t. I think it’s gonna be half-and-half. Even during my time there (in Indy), there were a lot of people who wanted me to be off the team, and now they got what they wanted, and now they’re still complaining.”

Myles Turner Pens Emotional Message as He Bids Adieu to Indiana Pacers

As Turner’s ten-season long stay with the Indiana Pacers came to an end, he took to social media to share an emotional message for Indiana fans. He said, “It’s hard to put into words what the past 10 seasons and past 10 years of my life has meant to me… From a teenager out of Bedford Texas to the MAN and player I am today, Indy has been home through it all. You watched me grow up — on and off the court. Just like you I put my hard hat on clocked in & clocked out every single day.”

Turner went on to say that he never took the short way and put in his hard work for the team. The Texas alum stated, “Throughout the years I put my personal pride & ego to the side and sacrificed many parts of myself and my livelihood for the betterment and advancement of this organization. I NEVER took the easy way out. I took the criticism on the chin, bit my tongue to complain and just kept my head down and grinded through it all and in the end… it was ALL so worth it!”

In his NBA career for the Pacers, Turner played a total of 642 games and averaged 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. He has had a total of 609 starts for the 2025 NBA Finalists.
