Winner to face Bencic or Alexandrova in the QFs.
Two of the WTA’s young guns will race to the finish line for a spot in the 2025 Wimbledon Championships quarterfinals on Monday. Russian teenage prodigy Mirra Andreeva will battle American starlet Emma Navarro in the Round of 16 on Centre Court. As two of the few remaining seeds in the draw lock horns, only one can confirm their appearance in the last eight.
Provided she can secure a victory, Mirra Andreeva will enter a maiden Wimbledon quarterfinal. The 18-year-old was eliminated in Round-4 in 2023 – her career-best outing at this event. Currently on a 35-10 record this year, Andreeva won titles at Dubai and Indian Wells. The World No. 7 had a poor grass court run ahead of the Championships (1-2). Yet, she shrugged off the poor form to beat Sherif, Bronzetti and Baptiste en route to this match.

Two days after forcing the defending champion Barbora Krejcikova to relinquish her crown, Emma Navarro will aim to qualify for back-to-back QFs at SW19. The 24-year-old seemingly loves facing Grand Slam winners at this competition – she defeated Coco Gauff in 2024, before taking out Petra Kvitova and Krejcikova in 2025. Looking to improve her 24-16 record this season, Navarro can be proud of the fact that only Sabalenka and Gauff have reached more second weeks at majors over the past two years.

Mirra Andreeva leads the head-to-head against Emma Navarro by 1-0. Their one and only meeting came at the 2024 Cincinnati Masters.
Coming face to face in the Round of 64 at the American town, Andreeva raced ahead in the marquee clash. Despite Navarro being the 11th seed and home favourite, the Russian showed no signs of being nervous. She produced a masterclass in shot-making to drub Navarro in straight sets. Monday’s pre-quarterfinal will be the first time these players face off on grass.

Andreeva and Navarro have contrasting styles and attitudes on court. While the American seems more elegant, nonchalant and effortless in her approach, the Russian is more intense and expressive on court. Navarro has an innate ability to induce sudden power into her game, and take her opponents by surprise. While Andreeva will take the attack to her from the outset, the 10th seed will ease her way into the match.
