Can the Russian prodigies outlast the US Open champs?
Paris Olympics silver medalists Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider will face defending champions Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe in the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh on Sunday. The two pairs have been seeded No. 5 and No. 3 this week, respectively. While one pair has a clear edge in the rivalry so far, the tables can turn at any given point. With the help of BetMGM, we look to break down this women’s doubles contest for you.
Apart from her singles prowess, Mirra Andreeva has improved massively on the doubles circuit. Alongside 21-year-old Diana Shnaider, she forms one of the most formidable units on tour. The Russian youngsters won a trophy in their very first tournament of the year at Brisbane, and followed it up with a semifinal finish at the Australian Open. Another title charge at the Miami Open and several semifinal finishes have given both of them a success rate of 71% this year.

Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe were unbeaten in last year’s WTA Finals. They are the third seeds this week, courtesy a fine season that involved a championship run at the US Open and seven combined doubles trophies. Although they suffered some speed bumps on clay and grass, the Canadian-Kiwi pairing has been dominant on hard courts. In their most recent outing together, they lost in the opening round of the China Open as the top seeds.

Owing to the surface and recent form, we predict a win for Dabrowski and Routliffe. The duo shares excellent chemistry and thrives at the events where points can be quick and nervy. The crowd will play their part as well, and the experience of someone like Dabrowski could be vital in securing the pair’s first win over Andreeva/Shnaider.
Prediction: Dabrowski/Routliffe in straight sets.
