The winner will take on with the winner of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets series in the Conference Finals.
Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors will lock horns in the Western Conference semifinals after a dominating performance against their higher-seeding rivals. The Wolves (No. 6) outclassed the Lakers (No .3) 4-1 and the Warriors (No. 7) overcame the Rockets (No. 2) 4-3 in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
A 6-seed and a 7-seed are meeting in the playoffs for the third time in NBA history. It’s an inspiring story for both teams. The Warriors slipped to the Play-in tournament for the second straight year and defeated the Grizzlies to qualify for the playoffs. The Dubs faced the second seeded Rockets in the first round and in the playoff history, the 7th-seeded teams failed to cross the line majority of the time.
Despite all, the Warriors held a 3-1 advantage in the series but lost two consecutive games to force a Game 7. Stephen Curry and Co. were under pressure in winner-take-all game and they knocked out the Rockets 103–89. Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler have provided a great support to Curry in the journey to the conference semifinals.

On the flip side, the Wolves had no chance against the Lakers before the first-round series. After winning Game 1, they were defeated by the Lakers in Game 2 to find the scoreline 1-1. All the experts and former players put Los Angeles favourites but Minnesota surprised everyone. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves for a remarkable victory against the Lakers in the playoff series. A 4-1 series win against Luka Doncic and LeBron James showcase the strength of the Timberwolves.
It would be a great battle between Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards. The Warriors made errors in a couple of games against the Rockets but they cannot repeat the same in the conference semifinals. Meanwhile, the Warriors won the regular-season series 3-1 against the Timberwolves. Minnesota’s performance in last one month has been outstanding and this series might finish in seven games.
The winner will take on with the winner of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets series in the Conference Finals.
