The Timberwolves made their first playoff appearance in 1997.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a poor 2024-25 season, as compared to the last one. The Wolves who finished with a staggering 56-26 record in 2023-24 made it to the postseason with a 49-33 record. Talking about their history, the team was founded in 1989 and while they had a few struggling years, the Wolves went on to clinch playoff berths in eight consecutive seasons, thanks to their acquisition of Kevin Garnett.
However, their struggles came back when they traded Garnett to the Celtics in 2007, and invested a few years in remodeling themselves. The Wolves found their rhythm back in 2018 when they made their first playoff appearance in 14 years, only to go through another three-year playoff drought.
The Wolves secured their fourth straight playoff berth in 2024-25 as they made it to the postseason as the sixth seeds in the West. They pulled off a 4-1 upset over the LA Lakers in the first round and 4-1 against the Warriors in the conference semifinals. They will be in action in the western conference finals for the second straight year.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have played a total of 36 seasons in the NBA, and in those seasons, they have qualified for the playoffs in 13 seasons. The first time they booked a playoff berth was in 1996-97 season, where they entered the postseason as the 6th seed in the West with a 40-42 tally.
However, their journey was cut short and they exited from the race after a Western Conference First Round defeat. The Houston Rockets handed them a 3-0 loss.
