Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat Emerge Front-Runners Among Kevin Durant’s Possible Landing Spots

Minnesota Wolves or Miami Heat- Where Would Kevin Durant Go?

The rumors of Kevin Durant’s trade from the Phoenix Suns this off season have gotten the NBA world buzzing. There were reports that the teams are quickly moving to finalize the deal and a total of eight teams have shown interest in acquiring the two-time NBA Champion. As per latest developments, the Wolves and the Heat are currently leading the charts to possibly land Durant.

Per latest developments, the Wolves are leading the sweepstakes at 30% while Miami is 25% to land the 15-time NBA All-Star. The Rockets own 20% chances while Spurs are trailing them at 15%. The Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Clippers’ chances of acquiring the former MVP stand at 5% each.

Earlier, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Durant’s preferred landing spots include the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, reports also suggested that the Heat are looking to seal the best deal and hence, they are in talks with all the interested teams and would trade the 36-year-old, irrespective of his preference.

New York Knicks Completely Out of Kevin Durant Sweepstakes

The New York Knicks, who were reportedly trying to acquire Durant before the trade deadline this past season, have completely been ruled out of the sweepstakes. It is to be noted that despite being 36 years old, the two-time NBA Finals MVP led the scoring charts for the Suns with 26.6 points per game. Apart from it, he averaged 6.0 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game. It goes without saying that having a coveted star on their roster would have helped the Knicks in their pursuit of winning a title.

New York is coming off the best season in 25 years, where they reached the Eastern Conference Finals. However, after getting knocked out by the Indiana Pacers, they are thinking of making all types of changes into their roster. They began by firing their head coach Tom Thibodeau a few days after their elimination.

Coming off a heartbreak ending to their NBA Championship dreams, Durant’s addition would boost their aspirations. But with him out of the picture, the franchise would continue its hunt somewhere else.
