| Norman Powell O 19.5 points | -112 | – |
Norman Powell has been leading the Miami Heat in scoring with an average of 24.9 points through 13 games he has played for the side this season. He has been shooting 49.1% from the field and 45.6% from the three-point range. In the previous game against the Sixers, he dropped 32 points, with four rebounds and one assist while shooting 61.1% from the field and 57.1% from the three-point range. In fact, in the last five games, Powell dropped 20+ points on three occasions, including a 38 point show against the New York Liberty.
The Heat are in great form, and have homecourt advantage in Monday’s clash against the Mavericks. Considering that the visitors have a better defensive rating, Powell and others could face some challenges, but we can expect him to drop 20 points and more.
The Miami Heat have had a disappointing campaign in the 2024-25 season, where they recorded 37 wins and 45 losses to finish eighth in the Eastern Conference. After undergoing a revamp in the offseason, the Heat were hoping for a better season this NBA year, and it can be safely said that their strategies have been paying off. They kicked off the season with a loss but soon gathered themselves and recorded three back-to-back wins.
Currently, the Heat are seeded fourth in the Eastern Conference with an 11-6 record. In fact, they are coming off a four-game winning streak and aiming to extend it to move up on the table. Statistically speaking, the Heat have an offensive rating of 116.6, which places them in the 13th spot among 30 teams. Defensively, they sit just below the Mavericks for the fourth best defensive rating of 111.2.
On the other hand, the Mavericks had high hopes in the beginning of the season. They acquired first overall pick, Cooper Flagg, and already had Anthony Davis starring on the roster. However, contrary to their expectations, Dallas has been barely able to survive the season. The injury woes to Davis and others have put them in a tough spot with just five wins in 18 games.
Though Flagg has been doing well, it seems that the franchise has shouldered all its expectations on him. Davis has also been upgraded to doubtful for the upcoming game, but there is no certainty if he would return on Monday.
Talking about their performance as per statistics, the Mavericks have the worst offensive rating of 105.3. However, their defensive rating of 110.6, has put them in the third spot among all 30 teams.
The Mavericks would want to put in their best effort to sail beyond the victory line but considering their rivals momentum, form and players’ availability, the hosts are highly likely to come on top.
