The lesser team that is talked about is the Miami Heat team, who just went through a lot of drama in the 2024-25 season. At first it was the Jimmy Butler trade to the Golden State Warriors, which was not pretty to say the least. Heat’s President, Pat Riley, who is looked at as one of the best across the best, is known to be tough, and somebody who doesn’t give in to superstar player’s demands. According to reports, back when LeBron James was in Miami, he reportedly wanted head coach Erik Spoelstra to be fired, but Riley did not budge. Then recently when Jimmy Butler wanted a bigger and a long-term commitment, reports state that Riley did not give in to that demand either. However, some of the decisions that Riley makes leaves the heat fans confused, as Jimmy Butler was their best player who led them to two NBA Finals, and Riley still did not want to pay up? Or how about the time when Damian Lillard was on the market looking for a new team, and despite Butler’s ask for additional help, Riley did not lift a finger yet again.

So this leaves us to question if NBA superstars still want to play for the Miami Heat, especially when Pat Riley is calling all the shots, and his star players get no say in it whatsoever. However, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, predicted each team’s top three dream targets for this summer. Number one was Kevin Durant, who obviously some of the biggest talents that could be available this offseason, and in the second place was Trae Young, who currently plays for the Atlanta Hawks. Let’s find out more.
The Miami Heat have an emerging star in Tyler Herro, who was just named to his first all-star appearance last season. The Heat also have Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., who have all been essential to Heat’s success. However, they are missing a true point guard, which has been a problem for them, for years. While they have Terry Rozier, he just hasn’t been able to produce like the way we all thought he would, and now that the offseason is arriving, Rozier could be searching for a new home soon.
Adding Trae Young to the roster would bolster their offense immediately, as Young is know to be a capable scorer, but his best ability is to dish out dimes, which Bam could feast out of. But the main concern with Young is his liability on the defensive end, and that doesn’t exactly fit with coach Spoelstra’s defensive minded game plans. However, if they are willing to trade for an offensive powerhouse, and sacrifice the defensive bit by surrounding Young with excellent 2-way wings, and a power forward who could play defense, that might actually work.
B/R’s trade idea that sends Trae Young to the Heat this summer:

Miami receives: Trae Young
Atlanta receives: Terry Rozier, Duncan Robinson, Jaime Jaquez, Nikola Jovic, Pelle Larsson, 2025 first round pick and 2030 first round pick

Unfortunately, Young is highly unlikely to leave Atlanta any time soon, and if there’s any chance of this happening, the Heat will have to offer a substantial number of picks, and a couple of their players for this to happen. But for now, the Heat’s point guard situation appears to be dire.
