Shubham Singh

On Monday, 03/03, the Memphis Grizzlies (38-22) will host the Atlanta Hawks (27-33) in an inter-conference Regular-Season match-up. The Grizzlies have slipped to the 4th spot in the close battle for the second seed in the West, whereas the Hawks are unable to get higher than the 9th spot in the East. Will the Grizzlies dust off another sub-.500 Team here? Read about the preview, total predictions, and player props here.

Where to Watch Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta Hawks

  • Time: 8:00 PM (ET)
  • Venue: FedExForum (Memphis, Tennessee)
  • Where to watch: This game can be viewed on the NBA League Pass.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta Hawks Match Preview

Grizzlies: Elite offense, below-average defense

The Grizzlies enters the game after a 2-point loss against the San Antonio Spurs without multiple starters. It was their second loss in a back-to-back situation, and they have lost 6 of their last 8 games, which has weakened their positioning in the West amidst the rise of Denver Nuggets and the LA Lakers. During this 8-game period, the squad gave up 124 points per game, by far the worst effort. However, they did score 121 PPG(7th), indicating their offense is still clicking on all cylinders.

Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Ja Morant | SG: Desmond Bane. | SF: Jaylen Wells | PF: Jaren Jackson Jr. | C: Zach Edey

Injuries: No injuries to report

Hawks: They are in a mega hole

The Hawks come into this game after a 16-point loss against West table-topper Oklahoma City Thunder. It was their second straight loss, and they have lost five out of their last six games. The Hawks have been 5-14 since around the third week of January, and as a result, they risk falling into the elimination round of the play-in tournament. The team is suffering from the same old issues: an extraordinary offense being undermined by a shoddy defense. They have given up 119.5 PPG(3rd) for the season and are somehow getting worse.

Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Trae Young | SG: Dyson Daniels | SF/PF: Zaccharie Risacher | PF: Mouhamed Gueye | C: Onyeka Okongwu

Injuries: Jalen Johnson, Larry Nance Jr., Vit Krejci, and Kobe Bufkin are OUT.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta Hawks Total Over/Under Prediction

Both teams have given up 125+ points regularly since February, which can pave the way for a high-scorer. The Hawks can score 120+ consistently, but lately, they have been held under the mark quite a bit. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies continue to breach the 125-point mark. Overall, I wouldn’t be surprised if bookmakers place equal odds around a total of 250+ or so and it is around a similar range as expected.

Projected Predictions:

  • Total Over 254.5 for +100 at BetMGM
  • Grizzlies: Points Over 126.5 at BetMGM
  • Hawks: Points Over 123.5 for +115 at BetMGM

Memphis Grizzlies Player Props Predictions- Projected Top Bets & Odds

Ja Morant to score at least 24 points: Ja Morant tallied 22.6 PPG in February, compared to his season average of 20.9. He has tallied 25 or more in three of the last six games. I believe he will be in the 25-28 points range here.

Desmond Bane to score at least 22 points: Bane put up 20 PPG in February, scoring 23 or more points in four of the last six games. I believe he will be in the 22-27 points range.

Atlanta Hawks Player Props Predictions – Projected Top Bets & Odds

Trae Young to dish at least 12 assists:  Young has facilitated more than 11 assists per game throughout the season. He has tallied 12 or more in three of the last four games, and I expect him to be in 12-14 assists here.

Dyson Daniels can notch 3 steals: Daniels leads the league in steals and tallied a mind-boggling 2.9 steals per game in February. I expect him to get 3-4 steals against the uptempo Grizzlies.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta Hawks Match Prediction

The Grizzlies will be the favorite as they have the home-court advantage and are 24-6 against teams below the .500 record. The Hawks can pull off some upsets every now and then, but they have been in tatters recently. Memphis will make sure to exploit the Hawks’ perimeter defensive holes here and will probably stamp a 10+ points win here.
