Maya Joint vs. Sofia Kenin Head-to-Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for WTA Korea Open 2025 Round of 16

Rudra Dubey

Joint and Kenin set for a tense 2025 Korea Open clash.

Maya Joint is set to clash with seventh seed Sofia Kenin in the second round of the Korea Open 2025. The unseeded Aussie impressed in her opener, dispatching qualifier Linda Fruhvirtova in straight sets, while Kenin survived a comeback battle against Laura Siegemund.

Joint, one of the most promising young talents on the tour, has made a breakout in 2025. The 19-year-old currently ranked No. 43 after a career-high No. 37 in July has already captured two WTA titles this year, defeating Jacqueline Cristian in Morocco and Alexandra Eala in Eastbourne. She also reached the semifinals in Hobart, Cancun, and Makarska, with quarterfinal runs in Merida and Puerto Vallarta. However, following her Eastbourne triumph, she has struggled with early exits in several events. Across 37 matches this season, Joint has struck 48 aces, won 60.6% of her first serves, and converted 47.5% of break points.

Kenin, meanwhile, has experienced a modest season with flashes of her former brilliance. The highlight came in Charleston, where she upset Anna Kalinskaya and Amanda Anisimova before falling to Jessica Pegula in the final. She also made quarterfinal runs in Hobart and Dubai, but in most other tournaments, she failed to progress past the early rounds. In 40 matches this year, Kenin has fired 82 aces, won 64.5% of first serves, and converted 45.8% of her break points.

Maya Joint vs. Sofia Kenin Head-to-Head Record

Maya holds a 1-0 edge over Sofia Kenin, having claimed their only previous meeting this season in Hobart in straight sets.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
