Dallas Mavericks’ star rookie Cooper Flagg shared brief interaction with the NBA legend Michael Jordan on Saturday at the 2025 Ryder Cup in Farmingdale, New York. In a picture shared by the Mavericks on their social media account, Flagg was seen embracing Jordan at the Bethpage Black Course. Notably, both Flagg and Jordan share deep love for Golf, and have time and again spoken about their admiration towards the sport.

The NBA Hall of Famer picked up the sport after bidding adieu to his basketball career. Despite looking down on it once, the six-time Champion has turned it into one of his bull-blown passions. Flagg, on the other hand, has always loved to play golf in his spare time. In fact, when once asked who he would love to play in a foursome with sometime, he named Michael Jordan, Stephen Curry, and Jayson Tatum.

The brief meetup, which has now gone viral all across the social media, symbolizes passing of baton from one of the greatest basketball players to a promising future.

Cooper Flagg to Join Dallas Mavericks’ Training Camp Opening on Tuesday

Cooper Flagg, who has had quite an eventful offseason, will join the Dallas Mavericks in their training camp. The Mavs open their camp on Tuesday in Vancouver, Canada at Simon Fraser University. They will be in Canada for practice for four days before returning to Dallas. In their preseason opener, the Mavs will lock horns with the Oklahoma City Thunder at Dickie’s Arena in Fort Worth on October 6.

Flagg, 18, enters the 2025-26 season as the front-runner to win Rookie of the Year. He is projected to be a starter for his new team and is expected to make an impact on both ends of the court. Earlier, he participated in the NBA Summer League and played two games for the side. The Duke alum averaged 20.5 points, five rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 35.7% from the field. In his second game, he recorded 31 points and four rebounds, before being pulled out by the team.

Flagg, the first overall pick at 2025 NBA Draft, will have all eyes on him as he dons the Mavericks jersey in the upcoming season. However, fans, franchise and pundits are hopeful that he would have smooth transition and he would help the team finish better by the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
