Malik Beasley Evicted from Detroit Apartment After He Fails to Pay $21,500 Rent

Things don't seem to be getting fine for Malik Beasley anytime soon!!

Former Detroit Piston guard Malik Beasley has once again made headlines. He was ordered to be evicted from his residence, The Stott, in Detroit on Wednesday, August 6, after being sued twice this year. The total rent he missed summed up to be $21,500. The first time Paperclip Properties LLC sued Beasley was on March 6 for $14,150 unpaid rent and later in June over $7,355 unpaid rent.

He was asked to appear in court, but as he failed to make it, Beasley was judged to be in default. It’s been a tough year for Beasley personally. Though he recorded the most successful year of his career, things went downhill for him off the court. During the 2024-25 season, the 28-year-old was averaging 16.3 points while shooting 41.6% from beyond the arc. He also finished second in the Sixth Man of the Year voting and had 319 made 3s, the second highest in the league.

Off the court, he was involved in the latest NBA betting scandal which is currently under investigation by the FBI. He was reportedly on the verge of signing a three-year contract worth $42 million with the Pistons. However, it seems that the Pistons are no longer interested in bringing Beasley back amid the investigations. This is not it! Reports suggest that he is also facing a $650,000 lawsuit for breach of his contract by his former agency.

Malik Beasley Not Ready to Give Up, Vows to Make Stronger Comeback

Beasley spoke for the first time after it was revealed that he has been under federal investigation. He released a video on Snapchat saying that no matter how bad things have turned for him, he won’t give up yet and would make a stronger comeback. Beasley said, “I feel like people turned their backs on me. Low-key, I mean, like, people were saying some crazy things in the media. If you go on my Instagram, you’ll see the craziest shit.”

“You know, people judge me. Have I made mistakes in my life? Yes. Am I proud of those mistakes? No. I’m human. But, you know, I know what I know. Like I said, my girl, summer continues, you know, until something else is done.”

He continued, “And I just gotta stay positive, stay low-key, stay grinding. I’ll tell you one thing, I got a chip on my shoulder. I’m ready to destroy anybody in front of me. I’m ready to prove again that I belong in this league. You know, for those who know me, I work too hard. I work every day, I work. I put basketball before anything.”

While Beasley remains optimistic about his return to the court, the Pistons resigning him remains an unlikely scenario. It seems that they have already moved on from him by signing Caris LaVert and trading for Duncan Robinson.
