Luka Doncic to Represent Slovenia at FIBA EuroBasket, Confirms Basketball Association President

The NBA season is still on, but there are only three teams remaining as the Oklahoma City Thunder have made it to the NBA Finals after defeating the Timberwolves in 5 games, and while the Knicks-Pacers series is still ongoing, the Pacers are leading 3-1 in the series and are most certainly going to play in the NBA Finals. For the rest of the team that are not competing, majority of them are focused towards rebuilding in the offseason. Talking about the Los Angeles Lakers specifically, they are trying to get a hold of a stretch four or a stretch five, who can defend the paint, catch lobs, and shoot from beyond the arc at a decent clip. Why? After the Lakers acquired Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks, they have not yet acquired a quality Center or a Power Forward, who Doncic can thrive off of. While the Lakers tried to get hold of Mark Williams from the Hornets, the trade ultimately did not go through.

Luka Doncic had to go through a lot this season. Getting traded from Dallas, which is considered his second home, coming to a big market team like the Los Angeles Lakers, who only expect for championships and nothing less, and all the expectations that are now on him since he plays in L.A. While Doncic helped the Lakers to the 3rd seed in the West, and appear in the first round, they were nearly swept by the Timberwolves. Clearly, the Lakers and Doncic have a lot to deal with. There is the conditioning aspect of Doncic which is still a concern, but recent photos show that Doncic has trimmed down a tad bit, looking skinny. However, the fans and analysts are moved as they believe that he will put on weight again, once the regular season comes back in late October.

Luka Doncic Set to Shine for Slovenia at FIBA EuroBasket

Now that the NBA season is over, Luka Doncic, is set to represent Slovenia at this summer’s FIBA EuroBasket, as confirmed by Matej Erjavec, president of the basketball association of Slovenia. The 26-year old has always thrived at FIBA basketball, and he initially started his pro basketball career playing for the Real Madrid during the 2014-2015 season, when he was just 13 years old. And by the time Doncic was 19, he had broken almost every single Euro Basketball record there was.

Doncic has constantly embraced international competition, suiting up for Slovenia nearly every summer since his NBA debut. His passion for representing his country has been evident, having led Slovenia to fourth-place finish at 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a EuroBasket title in 2017. Doncic loves playing Euro basketball, and despite what he’s been through, one thing’s for sure; he simply loves hooping.
