Sparks: Can they turn around their season?

The Sparks enter the game after a much-needed 85-75 win against the Indiana Fever, as Azura Stevens and Kelsey Plum had 20+ point efforts. They shot an excellent 50% from the field, limiting the Fever to just 36.5% shooting.

The team trailed by 8 points entering the fourth quarter, but a tremendous 35-17 push in the final quarter gave them the victory. This win broke an excruciating 4-game losing streak. It has been a forgettable season for the Sparks.

They built a solid roster in the offseason with the strong quartet of Plum, Stevens, Dearica Hamby, and Rickea Jackson, but the returns have been underwhelming. The bench depth has a lot of issues, but LA should have a 50% win rate by now, considering the talent pool.

They can still turn their season around, but for that, they will need Jackson and the defense to be more consistent.

Chicago Sky: Poor returns

The Sky enters the game after a disappointing 78-83 loss against the Golden State Valkyries despite a 17-point, 18-rebound performance by Angel Reese. They shot just 37.1% from the field, but were a solid 13/33 from the three-point line.

They’d rue not having Kamila Cardosa for the extended period here, as she could have helped them negate the struggles within the three-point line. At any rate, it was their fourth loss in five games.

Chicago has lost three or more in a row thrice this season, which is a recipe for disaster. They lack a true Point Guard after the injury to Courtney Vandersloot. They are not making up for their lack of offense by playing tough defense.

The Sky has leaked 10.9 triples per game (worst) while allowing a 50.7% two-point FG(3rd worst). Yikes.

The Sky has improved defensively, whereas Sparks has been pretty much the same. The last game between the teams accounted for 183 points, but I don’t expect such a big scoring night.

Overall, both teams can struggle in the initial parts but break the game open later. But perhaps an “Under” bet is better.
