Chargers take on the Broncos in an all-AFC West battle!
The Los Angeles Chargers will be playing their third consecutive game against their AFC West divisional rivals, this time going up against the Denver Broncos. At 2-0, the Chargers are a much-improved unit in their second year under coach Jim Harbaugh.
As for the Broncos, Sean Payton and Bo Nix started clicking towards the end of last season. Looking to take things forward, Nix struggled in week 1 against the Titans, and Denver’s loss against the Colts in week 2 is raising a little concern.
| Recommended Bets | FanDuel | BetMGM |
|---|---|---|
| Chargers to cover -2.5 spread | -120 | -114 |
| J.K. Dobbins anytime TD scorer | +140 | +148 |
| Justin Herbert 200+ passing yards | -420 | -455 |
The game between the AFC West opponents, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos, is expected to be a close one. That is also why the Chargers are slight favorites with a -2.5 point spread. We think L.A. will cover the spread as they have played well in the previous two weeks and have defeated the Chiefs by 6 points and the Raiders by 11.
J.K. Dobbins has been a positive in the Broncos’ run game. In the previous two games, he has run for 63 and 76 rushing yards, respectively. Additionally, Dobbins has found the endzone in both matches, making us believe that he could do the same against the Chargers.
Justin Herbert has started the season strong, and despite losing Rashawn Slater, the Chargers’ O-line is providing him time in the pocket. As a result, Herbert has over 550 passing yards in 2 games. However, the Broncos’ pass defense is better than their run defense, so we expect Herbert to have a 200+ yard passing game.

Los Angeles is heading into this week 3 game with superb wins against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders. The offensive line is providing quarterback Justin Herbert plenty of time to pick his receivers, while the defense has done a fine job of keeping things quiet thus far.
Meanwhile, Denver came through in week 1 against the Titans, but the game was a scrappy one. They were on the verge of winning in week 2, but a penalty during the failed field goal attempt by the Colts made things easier for Indy, sending the Broncos to 1-1.

Divisional games are always difficult to predict, and when there are two teams similar in quality, it makes it all the more difficult. However, the Broncos are 1-1, and even though they won against Tennessee, it wasn’t their best outing.
The Chargers seem to have the better roster at the moment, and both their wins have been inspiring. If the Chargers’ O-line can contain the Broncos’ first line of defense, then Herbert will be able to unlock the passing game.
Our Prediction: Chargers win and cover the spread
