He will face Lorenzo Sonego of Italy – who came through against Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in his last match. The winner of this match will equal their career-best record at the Championships by making it to the pre-quarterfinals.

Lorenzo Sonego exacted revenge on behalf of his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Musetti on Thursday. The 30-year-old defeated Basilashvili, who ousted the No. 7 seed in the opening round, had no answers to Sonego’s power and accuracy in Round-2.

Sonego came into Wimbledon with a miserly 11-16 record in 2025. He started the year on a high note with QF appearances at the Australian Open and Open 13, before suffering a major slump. The World No. 47 has lost to Ben Shelton in both previous Grand Slams this year, and could face him again in the Round of 16.
