Liverpool’s August Fixtures Against Newcastle and Arsenal Rescheduled

The Reds open their title defence at home to Bournemouth on August 15 in a game that will launch the new Premier League campaign.

Liverpool will have to alter their plans for the start of the season as two of their high-profile August fixtures have been rescheduled for live television coverage. The Premier League champions were set to face Newcastle United and Arsenal on traditional weekend slots, but both matches will now take place on revised dates.

The Reds open their title defence at home to Bournemouth on Friday, August 15, in a game that will launch the new Premier League campaign. Following this, Arne Slot’s side will now head to St. James’ Park on Monday, August 25 to face Newcastle, with the match kicking off at 8pm BST.

A week later, Liverpool will host last season’s runners-up Arsenal at Anfield in what promises to be an early heavyweight clash in the title race. The match has been moved to Sunday, August 31, with a 4:30pm BST kick-off.

Reds Begin Pre-season Preparations

These changes mean all three of Liverpool’s opening Premier League matches will be televised live, providing supporters the opportunity to watch new signings Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez in action. The clash against Arsenal will also serve as Liverpool’s final match before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.

Liverpool’s pre-season preparations began this week as players returned to the AXA Training Centre, following a delayed start due to the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. Arne Slot’s squad will play their first pre-season friendly against Preston North End on Sunday, July 13, at 3pm BST. It will mark the first time the Reds take to the pitch since Jota’s untimely death. It will definitely add an emotional backdrop to the fixture.

As the Reds adjust to a new season, these early matches will offer fans the chance to watch how the reigning champions shape up in the initial weeks of their title defence.
