Devavrat Kulkarni

For NFL fans, the culmination of this week is going to be a bittersweet moment. Super Bowl week has finally arrived, and that means this will be the final game of the season. That being said, there is always plenty of excitement and much fanfare in the final game of the season.

As is the standard practice in the NFL, the Super Bowl takes place nearly a fortnight from the Conference Championship games, and that means the lines and spread for this particular matchup have more chances of undergoing changes ahead of the big game.

So, without further ado, let us take a look at how the live line and spread for Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks have moved one week before the encounter.

Potential Causes for Line Change

As we can see from the opening and live odds for the line and spread, there has not been much movement. While the spread remains the same, the moneyline has moved ever so slightly. Thus, there has not been any major reason for the line or spread to move even one week after the opening odds.

That being said, there are a couple of reasons as to why the odds may have changed over the past week.

Large volume of bets on the Seahawks

With the Seahawks being the favorites in Super Bowl LX over the Patriots, there may have been a large number of bets placed on Seattle to win outright or to cover the spread. Generally, most casual bettors place bets on the favorites, and that can push the lines towards the team favored to win.

Recent form

While the Patriots have won 3 in a row in the postseason to reach the Super Bowl, and Seattle has won their only 2 matches, the styles in which they have won seem to favor the Seahawks. Seattle has put up over 30 points in both their games, whereas New England has struggled on offense.

Both teams have been at their best on defense, but the Patriots have been the better team in terms of scoring defense. That being said, New England’s points scored and points allowed need to be taken with a pinch of salt as they played all 3 games under tough climatic conditions.

With no real injury concerns to worry about, it is another added advantage for Seattle, which finished the regular season as the top scoring defense. Furthermore, the offense led by Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Kenneth Walker III has also performed exceptionally.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
