Liam McNeeley, the former UConn Huskies phenom, is all set to kick off his NBA journey. Having selected as the overall 29th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, McNeeley will play for the Charlotte Hornets. He grew up in Richardson and began his journey at J.J. Pearce High School. Following his freshman season, he was transferred to John Paul II High School in Plano.

After finishing his sophomore season with an average of 17 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, McNeeley transferred to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. In his first season there, he averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in National Interscholastic Basketball Conference.

A five-star recruit, the 19-year-old went to Indiana and signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play for the Indiana Hoosiers. However, after requesting a release from the NIL, he committed to UConn. In his sole season for the Huskies, he averaged 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
