LeBron James is on the verge of creating NBA history!
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is seemingly taking a ‘patient’ approach towards his nerve injury. According to reports by Shams Charania of ESPN, Kings James is expected to make his comeback around mid-November. The 40-year-old, who is set to become the first NBA player to play his 23rd season, was recently diagnosed with a right-side sciatica injury.
The 21-time All-Star missed the training camp and was out of preseason fixtures as well due to “nerve irritation in his glute.” According to head coach JJ Redick, James had been aiming to return for the Lakers’ season opener on October 21, but the diagnosis later indicated that he would be out for around 3-4 weeks, missing the entire preseason schedule as well as a few regular season games.
However, as per latest reports, James is taking a ‘patient’ approach, taking his own time to recover from the injury and tip off his 23rd season in the league. The new timeline for his return to the court is expected to be around mid November.
ESPN senior insider Shams Charania was present in the latest episode of NBA Countdown. He told Malika Andrews that the Lakers and LeBron James are looking for a mid-November return. Charania reported, “October 30 would be the earliest that the Lakers would be officially re-evaluating LeBron James, but it is expected that he will need at least a few weeks after that point.“

“A source told me tonight LeBron will be taking a patient approach with this rehab from nerve injury. And so the ramp up process for this will be a lot of basketball shape conditioning work. As I reported last week on NBA Today, LeBron James first suffered this never issue during an on-court workout in late July, early August. He wasn’t able to have that normal LeBron James offseason that we are accustomed to.”
“And as a superhuman that he has been throughout his NBA career. He is turning 41 on December 21, and is in year 23. So, that’s the timeline on LeBron James at some point in November, likely around that mid November range,” Charania concluded by saying.
Turning 41 soon, LeBron James is the NBA’s oldest active player, and is nearing retirement. The four-time champion would want to pull the curtain on his incredible career with a bang. Hence, this might be the reason that he’s being extra careful with injuries.
