Laver Cup 2025 Heats Up – Casper Ruud Returns, Rosters Stack, and Drama Awaits in San Francisco

As the 2025 Laver Cup heads to San Francisco, rosters take shape with Ruud returning and four high-stakes spots still up for grabs.

With just a little under two months to go until the Laver Cup returns for its eighth edition, the 2025 rosters are beginning to take form, and Team Europe just got a major boost. World No. 13 Casper Ruud has been confirmed for his fifth consecutive appearance, joining a stacked European lineup that includes Carlos Alcaraz (world No. 2), Alexander Zverev (No. 3), and Holger Rune (No. 9).

The team will be led this year by newly appointed captain Yannick Noah, as they head to San Francisco’s Chase Center from September 19 to 21. Two spots remain unannounced for both Team Europe and Team World, leaving fans eager to see who will round out the lineups as the tournament draws closer.

Big Names and Four Spots Up for Grabs

Ruud’s return adds depth and experience to Team Europe. The 26-year-old Norwegian, fresh off a title run at the Madrid Open, holds a 4-2 record at the Laver Cup since debuting in Boston in 2021. He’s played key roles in London (2022), Vancouver (2023), and Berlin (2024), becoming a dependable asset in both singles and doubles.

Ruud said, “The Laver Cup is incredible, bringing together Europe, with its rich tennis history, to take on the rest of the world. I love representing Europe and doing my best for the whole continent, not just my country. The team aspect is unique, getting to play alongside guys who are usually my rivals and to support each other is something we don’t experience often.”

On the other side of the net, Team World will also have fresh leadership. In his first outing as captain, eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi is tasked with guiding the team to what would be their third title. So far, the squad includes American stars Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Tommy Paul, alongside rising Brazilian sensation Joao Fonseca.

With the Chase Center hosting for the first time and the tournament returning to the U.S. West Coast, the anticipation is sky-high. The Laver Cup’s black court, signature format, and high-stakes point system (1 point on Friday, 2 on Saturday, and 3 on Sunday) promise another weekend of drama, strategy, and world-class tennis.
