Las Vegas Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers Injury Report for Week 2 – Brock Bowers’ Status Uncertain, Tarheeb Still Returns Ahead of Primetime AFC West Clash

Raiders and Chargers face injuries, depth tests ahead of MNF

Monday Night Football in Week 2 brings an AFC West rivalry to the bright lights of Allegiant Stadium, as the Las Vegas Raiders host the Los Angeles Chargers. Both teams opened their seasons with impressive wins, the Raiders grinding out a 20-13 victory against the New England Patriots, while the Chargers stunned the Kansas City Chiefs 27-21 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Raiders, who limped to a 4-13 record last season, looked refreshed under new head coach Pete Carroll. Their defense showed resilience in Foxborough, and the offense, while far from flashy, executed well enough to secure a hard-fought road win. Carroll’s arrival has already brought a sense of discipline and athleticism, much needed for a franchise desperate to climb out of a three-year playoff drought.

On the other sideline, Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers are building momentum after snapping a one-year playoff absence in 2024. Last season, they leaned on a league-best defense that allowed just 301 points, though their Wild Card loss to Houston exposed some offensive shortcomings. Layer in the fact that Carroll and Harbaugh renew their long-running duel, now standing at 4-4 head-to-head in the NFL, and Monday night feels like more than just a divisional game.

It’s an opportunity for both franchises to signal they’re ready to challenge for an AFC West crown that has eluded them for over a decade. The Raiders haven’t won the division since 2002, while the Chargers’ drought stretches back to 2009. With star talent on both rosters and iconic coaches at the helm, this matchup carries early-season stakes that feel like January.

The Raiders’ injury sheet is headlined by rookie tight end Brock Bowers, who remains questionable with a knee issue. His status looms large for an offense that needs playmakers. Linebacker Elandon Roberts looks ready to go after trending up in practice, but rookie lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson is out with a concussion, leaving the offensive line thin against the Chargers’ fierce pass rush.

Los Angeles faces more defensive absences, with Elijah Molden and Denzel Perryman both sidelined and linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips questionable. The return of rookie corner Tarheeb Still provides some relief, but Harbaugh’s defense will need depth to step up against Carroll’s balanced Raiders.

With key players sidelined on both sides, Monday Night Football in Las Vegas promises high stakes and unpredictable swings. The Raiders need Brock Bowers to spark the offense, while the Chargers must compensate for defensive losses. Depth and execution will decide which AFC West contender makes the early-season statement.
