Lakers vs Knicks: Will Karl-Anthony Towns play tonight?

The Knicks take on the Lakers on Thursday.

The New York Knicks (40-21) are back in action on Thursday, March 6, where they are set to lock horns with the Los Angeles Lakers (39-21) at Crypto.com Arena. The 3rd seeded Eastern Conference side will head into the game on the back of a 114-102 loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers, on the other hand, in a red-hot form, enjoying a seven-game winning streak. The home favorites will aim to continue their winning momentum before they get on a four-match road trip.

Karl-Anthony Towns, who is averaging 24.5 points, 13.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season, missed the last game against the Warriors. While there wasn’t any injury reported, sources said that he had some “personal reasons”. There was no further information but Towns’ girlfriend Jordyn Woods left everyone concerned with her two-word cryptic message on her social media.

Woods took to X to write, “F*** Cancer”. While the context behind the tweet and Towns’ absence remains unknown, Woods has had a deep connection with cancer. She lost her father John Woods to the fatal disease two weeks after his diagnosis.

However, coming back to Towns, Knicks’ head coach came up with a worrying response when asked about his availability against the Lakers. Thibodeau was asked if he will be back in action, to which he replied that Towns “needs some time right now”.

“I can’t answer that. I can’t, because I just don’t know, so when he’s ready to come back, obviously we want him back,” the Knicks head coach added.

To everyone’s relief, Karl will be available for the game against Lakers. Towns is off the injury report for the game. Knicks will be without Ariel Hukporti (knee). Apart from him, OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Mitchell Robinson have been listed as questionable on the report with thumb, hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ player props against Lakers

Points: Over/Under 22.5
Rebounds: Over/Under 12.5
Assists: Over/Under 2.5
Three Pointers Made: Over/Under 1.5

The betting props suggest that Towns will have a decent performance tonight against the second-seeded Western Conference side. The points line is 22.5, which is a bit lesser than his in-season average of 24.5 points per game. However, this is still a positive sign, considering his last 20-point performance came against the Celtics on February 22. In the last game that he played, Towns finished with 19 points and 16 rebounds.
