The Denver Nuggets have a lot to think about this offseason regarding multiple players on their roster, which includes potentially trading away Michael Porter Jr., Jamal Murray’s future with the team, the roster reconstruction when it comes to their lack of depth in their bench, but nothings stands more important than keeping their best player happy. Nikola Jokic was very close to winning his fourth MVP award this season, and tie LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain for the amount of MVPs in their collections. While his defense can sometimes be a little lackluster, offensively Jokic is special. In fact, it is widely believed that Jokic is the best player in the world currently, and if the Nuggets don’t improve their roster immediately, he could be headed elsewhere.
Throughout Jokic’s career, he has never complained about the roster construction and has happily played with whoever he’s got. But the problem is that the Nuggets have been complacent. Ever since they won the championship two seasons ago, they have lost their key role players every season, and have gotten nothing in return. We’re talking about losing Bruce Brown, Kentavious Caldwell-pope, Jeff Green, and so on. These players were essential to the 2023 championship run, and we believe that firing head coach Mike Malone did not do much for them either.

According to heavy.com, the Los Angeles Lakers are the favorites to land Nikola Jokic, now that there are various speculations about if he’s going to stay at Denver.
After losing to the OKC Thunder in Game 7, in the Western Conference Semi-finals, when the Joker was asked about his thoughts on if he believed that the team could win the Larry O’Brien trophy with the same roster, his answer was clear.
“We didn’t, so obviously we can’t. If we could, we would win it, so I don’t believe in those “if,” “if,” stuff. So, we had an opportunity, we didn’t win it so, I think we can’t.” Jokic said.
Well if there ever was pressure on the Denver Nuggets to make changes, the time is now. Or else, we might see Jokic in a new team sooner than we can think.
The Lakers could the favorites because of how Jokic is a great friend of Guard, Luka Doncic, who had his own share of drama in the midst of 2024-25 season after he was traded away from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are also looking for a ‘Big’ in this offseason, and Jokic becomes available this offseason, lookout for the Lakers to go all in on the trade. However, for now, it is highly unlikely the Joker is leaving Denver anytime soon.
