Mbappé at the Double as Real Madrid See Off Real Oviedo 3-0

Ritam Dey

Kylian Mbappé scored twice as Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the La Liga season with a 3-0 victory away at Real Oviedo.

The Frenchman, who netted the winner against Osasuna on the opening weekend, now has three goals in two games for Los Blancos. His first came eight minutes before the interval, a crisp finish from the edge of the area, before he sealed the result late on with a composed side-footed strike.

Alonso Rotates, Madrid Respond

Head coach Xabi Alonso opted for changes to his line-up, with Trent Alexander-Arnold dropping to the bench after starting the previous match. Dani Carvajal reclaimed the right-back slot, while Vinícius Jr. also began among the substitutes.

Alonso handed a start to 18-year-old Franco Mastantuono, and the teenager impressed with his direct running and sharp movement, adding energy to Madrid’s attack.

Alexander-Arnold was introduced only for the final three minutes, while Vinícius made his mark in stoppage time, slotting home a clinical finish for Madrid’s third.

Oviedo’s Resistance and the Strong Start to the Season

The hosts battled gamely and had their best chance in the 81st minute when Kwasi Sibo’s long-range effort clipped the outside of the post. Moments later, Mbappé grabbed his second to extinguish any hopes of a late Oviedo fightback.
