Kyle Kuzma to Sacramento Kings? Wizards forward’s LATEST video sparks trade speculation

Swati Bhatia

Kuzma is averaging 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season.

The Washington Wizards are having a nightmare of a season. With a 6-35 record, they are currently going through a 8-game losing streak. The front office is already shifting focus, looking to build a team for the future. The priority? Get future draft picks and make some moves to kickstart the rebuild.

One player who could bring the Wizards the most value in a trade is 29-year-old Kyle Kuzma. The 2017 draft pick was part of the Los Angeles Lakers team that won the 2020 NBA title. After a few seasons coming off the bench in L.A., the Lakers traded Kuzma to Washington in 2021.

The 27th draft pick posted 17.1 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 3.5 apg in his first season and followed it up with the highest-scoring season, averaging 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

The star forward then signed a new deal with the Wizards in 2023. But with Washington still nowhere near championship contention, the question on everyone’s mind is: could Kuzma be on his way out?

And it seems like the Sacramento Kings might be a possible landing spot. The latest speculation came before the game between the Wizards and the Kings on Sunday night. Kuzma jogged over to Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and exchanged a friendly fist bump. The interaction didn’t go unnoticed.

However, Kuzma later clarified his interaction and revealed that he and Ranadive were involved in a new business venture together – Major League Volleyball, a women’s professional sports league.

“Nothing basketball-related,” Kuzma said after Sacramento blew out Washington 123-100.

While the Wizards have been struggling, the Kings are on the rise after firing Mike Brown and hiring Doug Christie, going 9-2 under their new head coach.

The NBA trade deadline will close on February 6.
