Knicks Aim To Clinch First Playoff Series At Home Since 1999 As They Host Celtics For Game 6 in Eastern Conference Semifinals

The New York Knicks are set to host the Boston Celtics for one of the most exciting games of the Conference Semifinals series 2025. Both sides will be up in Game 6 of their series on Friday, May 16, at the Madison Square Garden. As the Knicks, currently leading the series 3-2, welcome the reigning champions at home, they aim to achieve a feat they haven’t been able to since 1999.

The last time the Knicks won a series at home was in the 1999 playoffs, when they defeated the Indiana Pacers 4-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. New York paved its way through to the NBA Finals, but unfortunately ended up suffering a 1-4 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the summit series.

Since then, they haven’t been able to register a series win at MSG, and as they aim to secure a conference finals berth against the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks would want to wrap the series at home and end their 26-year-long drought.

Knicks’ Last Five Series Clinching Losses or Celtics’ Last Five Elimination Wins- Which Streak Will Break on Friday?

The Boston Celtics, who are often regarded as one of the best road teams in the history of the league, have been maintaining a staggering record. The 18-time champions, who maintained a 33-8 tally on the road in 2024-25, and fell short of just one win from creating an NBA record. As they ended the season with a .805 winning percentage on the road this season, the Celtics scripted a new franchise-best road record.

Not only this, but the 18-time champions also maintain a staggering NBA playoffs record. They have won the last five road games when facing elimination. On the other hand, the Knicks haven’t been able to win the last five playoff games at home where they could have clinched a series win.

As both sides fight in one of the most anticipated clashes of the season, it would be interesting to see which streak comes to an end.
