Kelce Brothers Gave Their Take on Shedeur Sanders Sliding to the 5th Round of the 2025 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft, which took place from 24-26th April, had a lot of talented prospects and as expected, the mock drafts that were made by various analysts, were once again way off the mark. The reality was completely different from what most NFL pundits expected, but the biggest surprise of them all, was Shedeur Sanders sliding to the fifth round of the 2025 Draft. Nobody expected for that to happen, as Shedeur was looked at as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 draft class, and while it may have been okay to not draft him in the first round, a drop to the fifth round was just blatantly blasphemous.

There are many teams in the NFL who still do not have a quarterback to rely on, and Sanders should have easily been on of their radar, but the fact of the matter is that he wasn’t, and he was drafted as the 144th pick by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the draft. Despite the slide, Sanders remained positive, and was cool, calm, and composed. There are some reasons why Sanders was not picked earlier in the draft, and so far there’s hasn’t been any clear cut answers. However, what’s certain is the fact that, various teams across the NFL were trying to send a message, and it most likely had nothing to do with Sanders’ ability as a football player, but it looks more and more like it was personal.

Kelce Brothers React to Shedeur Sanders’ Surprising Fifth-Round Drop in 2025 NFL Draft

Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce recently shared their thoughts on why Shedeur Sanders fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, on their podcast New Heights, and here is what they said;

“Some people had him in like top 10 picks right?” Jason Kelce asked his brother Travis, surprised by how far he fell in the draft. Travis replied, “God I love this for Cleveland, I really do, man. The Browns fan deep down in my heart is just like ‘F*ck yeah.'”

Jason talked about how there were anonymous reports, prior to the draft, and how his team interviews went poorly, to which Travis added, “I think whoever’s the f***ing anonymous person that’s f***ing saying this should f***ing come out and say who they were… I’m not sure why he dropped. Whether it was the interviews or whether it was stuff that they saw on film. What I saw on film, I thought he was a way higher pick and I think that’s all it should matter. I think this is gonna be such a fresh start for him. I can see him working his a** off and becoming the starting quarterback in Cleveland at some point.”

Jason Kelce stated further, “The reality is, to me, it’s hard to find a great quarterback in this league. If these teams really felt that Shedeur Sanders was a top first round talent they would’ve picked him. The bottom line is teams just do not think the potential of Shedeur Sanders panning at the next level, is high enough to warrant an earlier pick. And teams get this wrong all the time. They got it wrong with Brock Purdy, they got it wrong with Tom Brady. This is now like an exact science, and I’m happy Shedeur Sanders is gonna get an opportunity to go to Cleveland, cause clearly Cleveland wants to replace their starting quarterback. They pick two of ’em in the draft.”

“I hope he makes it and he brings his- all of the people that he brought to the meetings to the contract that he signs after he f***ing leads them to some playoff game… I hope this just happens in the biggest f*** you to everybody around their questioning that side of things.”
