Starting his career with Perlas Vilnius, which is a youth affiliate of Rytas Vilnius, Jakucionis joined FC Barcelona”s youth ranks in 2021. He excelled with Barcelona’s junior and reserve teams in Liga EBA, earning a spot on the 2023-24 U-18 Euroleague All-Tournament team. In April 2023, he debuted for FC Barcelona’s senior team in the Liga ACB, becoming the third youngest player in the club’s history to complete at that level.

Committing to Illinois in May 2024, Jakucionis quickly made an impact as a freshman, debuting with 11 points and earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors twice. Despite missing two games due to a wrist injury, he had a great year securing multiple individual accolades.
