World No. 13 Karolina Muchova has carefully navigated a tricky draw so far, but matters will only get worse here on forward. The 2023 Roland Garros runner-up beat Venus Williams in Round-1, before surviving a nerve-wracking battle against Sorana Cirstea en route to the Round of 32. The 29-year-old has a record of 18-12 so far this year. This includes back-to-back semifinals at the Linz Open and Dubai Tennis Championships. Winning almost 75% points on first serve, Muchova has the edge ahead of this contest.

At the young age of 20, Linda Noskova has impressed one and all with her maturity. While her best performance of the year came at the Prague Open where she was the runner-up, the Czech prodigy also reached two semifinals in Abu Dhabi and Bad Homburg. Seeded 6th at the recently concluded Monterrey Open right before Flushing Meadows, the World No. 32 managed to enter the quarterfinal stage. Noskova is searching for her first title of the season, and second overall.

Since it is set to be a day session clash, Muchova and Noskova will have to deal with faster conditions on Grandstand. While both players are comfortable trading blows from the baseline, Muchova is arguably more adept at handling the net play. Expect the veteran to come forward more often, in order to disrupt the match state. Noskova will be hoping that her backhand can come good, and constant changes in direction will be crucial to throw Muchova off guard. On paper, it seems like the Grand Slam finalist has the edge.
