The 20-year-old American stunned Tomas Barrios Vera, ousted third seed Lorenzo Musetti in three sets, and eased past Learner Tien to reach his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal. He’s reached the fourth round in Melbourne, the quarterfinals in Auckland, Houston, and Halle, plus a Challenger title in Estoril. Across the season, he’s won 70% of his first-serve points, hit 177 aces, and converted 36% of 228 break points.
