The Bianconeri made an emphatic start in the tournament as they hammered Al-Ain 5-0 in Washington DC. New boss Igor Tudor saw his side explode in the first half, with Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao both netting twice, while Kenan Yildiz also scored. Juventus were fluid in attack and they showed early signs that they mean business in this competition.
After a turbulent domestic season, Tudor’s side is looking to make a statement on the world stage. Another win here would lock in qualification before their final group match against Manchester City. With confidence high and their key players in form, Juve are firm favorites to take control of Group G.
Wydad put up a respectable fight against Manchester City but ultimately fell 2-0. Despite their pedigree in African football, with 22 Moroccan league titles and a CAF Champions League crown in 2022, Wydad have struggled to compete at the global level. They did manage to create a few dangerous chances against City and coach Amine Benhachem will be hoping his team can capitalize better against Juventus.
For Wydad, Ayoub Boucheta and Renan Viana remain sidelined. After a solid showing against Manchester City, Benhachem could name an unchanged lineup. However, a second consecutive defeat would all but end their hopes of advancing to the next round.
Expect an active game on the flanks with both teams showing a consistent trend of generating corners in recent matches. Over the past six months, both sides have averaged around 5.1 corners per match. Wydad earned exactly four corners against Manchester City on matchday one despite just 32% possession. Domestically, Wydad have been producing lot of corners, topping the Moroccan league with an average of 5.73 corners per game. Juventus earned five corners against Al-Ain in their first game and often like to attack from the wings. As a result, there’s a strong case for total corners to go over 9.5 here.
Randal Kolo Muani made an immediate impact at the Club World Cup with a clinical brace in Juventus’ 5-0 dismantling of Al-Ain. Priced at +110, the in-form Frenchman represents good value to find the net again against Wydad AC. The striker has now scored in three of Juventus’ last four matches, showcasing his composure in front of goal. With his sharp movement and finishing ability, Kolo Muani is expected to be a constant threat to the Wydad defence. Given his current form, backing him to score anytime could prove to be a smart play.
While certainly a long-shot, Manuel Locatelli offers great value at +650 to score anytime against Wydad AC. The Juventus skipper is expected to return to the starting XI after recovering from an ankle injury that ruled him out of Italy duty earlier this month. Now fully fit, Locatelli will be eager to make his mark in midfield and could pose a real threat from set-piece situations. With Juventus likely to dominate possession, the midfielder may find opportunities to push forward, especially if Wydad sit deep.
Both Juventus and Wydad AC will be fighting tooth and nail to get the three points. After their ruthless 5-0 win over Al-Ain, the Bianconeri will be confident of securing their spot in the knockout stages with another three points.
Final Prediction: Juventus 2-1 Wydad AC
Since Igor Tudor’s appointment, Juventus have become more clinical in the final third. While Wydad showed flashes of promise against Manchester City, they may struggle to contain Juve’s attacking threat. Expect the Italian giants to control proceedings and score at least twice to wrap up the win.
