Joe Burrow’s Ideal Replacement- a Trade for This Quarterback With the New York Giants Could Be Game-Changing!

The game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville Jaguars was intense to say the least. The fans, analysts, and all of us covering the sport was entertained by what these two teams had in store for us. However, Joe Burrow’s toe injury was not something we expected to see.

Burrow suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury in the second quarter of the Bengals’ Week 2 game against the Jaguars. He went down awkwardly after a sack by DL Arik Armstead, with the front of his left cleat sticking in the turf as he hell, hyperextending the big toe joint and tearing ligaments.

Coming into this year, the Bengals had won just one game in Weeks 1-2 over the past six seasons under Zac Taylor.

Jake Browning Replace Burrow After the Injury, but Will it be Enough Moving Forward?

Backup Jake Browning entered and replaced Burrow for the rest of the game against the Jaguars. He threw for 241 yards, two touchdowns, including a 92-yard TD in the final minute. Browning managed to get the Bengals’ a 2-0 start, which is a first in six years.

However, despite Browning’s terrific outing, we cannot ignore the fact that he also had 3 interceptions within the same game. So this begs the question, is having Browning as QB1 until Burrow’s return, the right choice? And if they do decide to bring another QB to the roster, who should it be?

Giants’ QB3 Jameis Winston Getting Traded to Bengals Can Flip the Script!

If you have been following the New York Giants, they currently have 3 quarterbacks in place, with Russell Wilson as QB1, rookie Jaxson Dart as QB2, and Jameis Winston as QB3. While the season just started, and there’s still a lot to experiment with for the Giants, it is certain that their intensions are to start Wilson while developing Dart for the future.

This does, however, leave out Jameis Winston, who has not gotten his chance to perform on the field in 2025, and could most likely be benched for the rest of the season. Winston signed a two-year $8 million deal with the Giants this past offseason and is certainly a QB than can help any team. In 2024, Winston played in 12 games for the Browns and managed to throw beyond 2000 yards, on 13 touchdowns.

While given that Winston is turnover prone and also threw 12 interceptions in 2024, there is no denying that he is extremely talented and can make big offensive plays. The Bengals are in urgent need of a QB and a Winston trade could be the answer to that problem.

Winston With Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins Could Turn Into an Offensive Menace!

With Joe Burrow sidelined for an extended period of time, the Bengals could decide to trade for Jameis Winston and here’s why;

His cannon arm and deep ball prowess could ignite Cincinnati’s explosive offense, turning Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins into unstoppable deep threats.

Many people have forgotten Winston’s 2019 stats, going for 5,109 yards and 33 TDs, which proves that he thrives with elite receivers. He can exploit defenses with Chase’s wizardry and Higgins’ route-running, forcing secondaries to cover deep, opening underneath lanes and sustaining and short drives.

Even if the Bengals decide to start Browning, they do not have any backup QB on their roster currently, making Winston a perfect trade target. While we have seen Winston thrive with great receivers, Chase and Higgins’ combo is most certainly different to say the least. The Bengals need to make a call to the Giants, and acquire Winston (if available) as soon as possible!
