Luka Doncic played his second game for the Lakers and was on minutes restriction.
The Los Angeles Lakers went down to the Utah Jazz 131-119 on Wednesday, Feb 12, in the rematch of their previous gameplay. Their last meeting on Monday saw the Lakers registering a 132-113 victory.
Luka Doncic, who made his way to the Lakers following a shocking trade deal, played his second game in the yellow and purple colors. Doncic made his debut for the Lakers in the Monday-night clash, where he finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.
In his second game for the side, Doncic continued his impressive run and came up with 16 points, despite being on minutes restriction. However, his contribution went into vain as the Lakers slumped, recording the 20th loss of the season.
Doncic was a part of the starting lineup along with Rui Hachimura, LeBron James, Jaxson Hayes, Austin Reaves. The 25-year-old who was playing his second game of the year as well, was more aggressive right from the opening tip. With less than four minutes remaining on the clock during the opening quarter, the former Mavericks’ star had 5 points, two rebounds and two assists with a three-pointer before heading to the bench.
The second quarter saw Luka increasing his total to 13 points, which was the highest first-half score for the side. He also had two assists and two rebounds. The remaining half saw the Lakers’ worst fears coming true as they had to be without Jaxon Hayes with an injury.
Hayes suffered a facial contusion in the first half and was ruled out for the rest of the game. He left with four points, two rebounds and one block before Christian Koloko replaced him.
Coming back to Luka, he finished with 16 points in 23 minutes of gameplay with four rebounds and four assists, with three 3-pointers. Apart from him, Rui Hachimura scored 19 points, while LeBron James contributed 18 points.
